About Me
I've been investing in one form or another since 2013. Starting with property which I then went on to leverage to buy shares on the stock market, graduating into angel investment. If you want to know a little bit more about me, I’ve written a little bit more about my investing story in my first post.
About This Publication
I started this publication for two reasons.
Firstly because I wanted to be able to analyze NZX and ASX stocks and share that analysis with others. I used to do so on my personal website, but unfortunately, due to a change New Zealand law in March 2021 I am no longer legally allowed to publicly mention specific stocks because I am not a registered Financial Advisor. Consequently I want to use Substack to do so anonymously without fear of repercussions.
Secondly, this Substack was set up as a competition with a friend to see who can get the most subscribers in a month without advertising or mentioning this Substack to anyone. I suspect we’ll have to change the rules of our friendly competition, but it’ll be an interesting experiment to see if it’s possible to get subscribers on this platform without doing anything but creating content. Addendum: If you were wondering who won the competition, the answer is that we both lost. We both failed to get any subscribers. Shortly after signing up to Substack we discovered that while the platform lends itself towards some sort of social networking, Substack doesn’t actually advertise you in any fashion or drive readers to you, this job lies solely on the writer.
I hope you enjoy this Substack, but please respect that what I write here is not financial advice, merely my opinions and interpretations. Articles containing information about data, tax, legalities, valuations and analysis may be incorrect and possibly more importantly, what is a good investment for me, might be a bad investment for you; therefore it’s important to form your own opinions, do your own research and most importantly understand that by continuing to read this publication, you acknowledge that I am in no way responsible for your investment decisions - or in fact any of your actions.
